John Hammes Mowbray is a native and Nevada resident of 58 years and has been practicing law in Southern Nevada for the past 31 years. John is the managing Director of the Las Vegas office of Fennemore Craig, P.C. Born in Henderson, Mowbray attended and graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame. After graduation, he returned to Nevada and was a law clerk to the late Honorable Roger D. Foley, United States District Judge for the District of Nevada, before entering private practice.


For over the past decade, John taught an astronomy laboratory at the College of Southern Nevada. Mowbray and his telescopes have scanned the night skies above Southern Nevada for years. Capturing on film the last solar eclipse of the 20th century and the first lunar eclipse of the 21st century, Mowbray's photographs of the comets and planetary conjunctions have been well received by visitors at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The Nevada State Museum and Historical Society in Las Vegas displayed Mowbray's photographs in an exhibit entitled "Exploring the Skies over Southern Nevada," and the magazine CERCA featured his photography in its Winter, 2002 issue.
